INAUGURAL NORTHERN VIRGINIA SERVICE ACADEMY GOLF TOURNAMENT

There will be a golf competition between USMA, USNA, and USAFA at 0900 July 17, 2009 at Heritage Hunt Golf Club in Gainesville, VA.

This is a fundraiser for the young men and women at the service academies. All proceeds will be sent to the respective superintendents, through the local alumni associations, for their discretionary use in providing support to non-appropriated cadet and midshipmen activities. The objective is to have fun, make new acquaintances, and generate a little friendly inter-service rivalry in the area. This is a new event in addition to the more informal Army-Navy Golf Challenge held every September at Andrew AFB.

Format: Each service academy team is allocated 24 slots. This is straight up golf (with handicaps) , 2-man teams, best ball, match play - sort of a Ryder Cup format. No mulligans or string, or other "fun" stuff. There will be 6 matches Army vs Navy, 6 Navy vs Air Force, and 6 Army vs Air Force. One point awarded for each winning match, 1/2 point for each tied match. The service academy team with the highest point total wins the event.

Cost: $100.00 - includes golf, carts, food & prizes
