DC-Area Alumni,
Are you looking for a new outdoor activity to get you
out of the house or away from work and help you blow
off some steam?
Are you interested in socializing and networking with
more like-minded alumni from USNA and over 70
colleges/universities from around the country? Does
the idea of playing coed softball on a summer evening
at the base of the Washington Monument
sound really cool to you?
If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, please
come out and join USNA's Alumni Coed Softball team in
the 2009
Capital Alumni Network (CAN) Softball League!

2009 will be Navy's fourth season in the CAN Softball
League. The USNA team, nicknamed the "Yard Dawgs,"
currently has a roster of male and female alumni and
spouses representing the Classes of 1959-2004. Last
year's team maintained its reputation as one of the
more fun, competitive teams to play on the field and
has used that reputation to establish new, lasting
friendships with members of other CAN alumni
organizations. The season will consist of 14 regular
season
games, usually one per week, followed by a
post-season tournament that had over 1300 participants
last year!
Softball skills are nice to have, but not required, to
be a member of the Yard Dawgs. What's more important
is that you're a team player with a great attitude and
a competitive spirit looking to have some fun with area
alumni.
If you're interested in becoming part of the Navy Yard
Dawgs, please contact coach David Johnson, USNA '91, by
email (djnamaste@hotmail.com)
or phone (cell:
360-929-8877) for more information.
Go Navy!
From CAN's Website (www.dcalum.org):
"The purpose of CAN is to
foster activities, networking, friendship and intercollegiate spirit
between local alumni club members; to create a social forum where
there is interaction between university and college alumni chapters
and their members; to provide a source for activity-planning
information and resources; and to participate in activities that
display the diversity and strengths of the various Capital-area
alumni chapters."
